Olivia Propeck is from Fargo, North Dakota and is currently living in Los Angeles, California. She is a ceramic artist who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Maine College of Art & Design in 2024.
Propeck’s upbringing in the Midwest did not provide much representation of what a queer home could look like, so her work materializes the quieter moments of her own sapphic intimate relationships, domestic space, and her memory. Through illustrative and functional pottery, she focuses on bringing queer experiences, objects, and spaces physically closer to the viewer.
Her most recent and ongoing project, “Homebodies,” she observes and achieves a variety of homes in her community. These homes are documented through personal interviews and photographs, which are then translated onto the ceramic surface. Each piece is a thoughtful and intimate observation of the individual/family/couples’ homes, and each piece represents the most intimate spaces of those Propeck connects with.
And when she is not making sapphic and/or domestic inspired work, you will find her over her work bench making earrings and jewelry which can be found in a variety of stores in Portland, Maine and through this website.
